Ideas to Keep Ahead of Schedule
- Registration deadlines are 60 days before class session starts.
- All payments are needed 40 days before departure.
- Contacting your home university or employeer to make sure everything is needed and in order before leaving to study abroad.
- Make sure register far enough in advance to ensure your lodging preferences, courses and flights are not already full.
- Wait to book your flights until the registration process is complete, just in case program is full.
- If registering for a summer program:
* It is very important to start the process as early as possible make sure the program is not full (Summer is the most popular time of the year).
* Airlines are generally full booked for Summer travel, and prices tend to fluctuate more due to high demand.
Travel Tips:
- What you pack is important. Don't forget to take rain gear, comfortable shoes, and a warm coat for the heights. Make sure things that you know you will need get packed.
- Create an emergency plan to be prepared if the unexpected were to happen
- Make a financial plan for your trip - remembering to bring cash as well as credit and ATM cards. Credit card acceptance is not as high in many countries outside of the USA and Canada.
- Travel safety is important when abroad. The most common crimes you will encounter while abroad involve petty theft or scams aimed at tourists.
- World cultutures are different. While you will find many things to be the same while abroad - part of the experience is learning to integrate into the culture of your host country. And, don't hesitate to buy a good Travel Guide before setting out to any part of the world!
